- Jane Woodward was the daughter of Richard Woodward (1636-1706) and Jane Nyle Woodward (1647-UNK). Her father's parents were Thomas Woodward and Elizabeth Robinson who married in Neston, Cheshire, England in 1632. Her mother's parents were Henry and Deborah Nyle/Nye. Jane Woodward and Nathaniel Newlin, Jr. married in 1711 Concordville, Delaware Co, PA.

Following is Jane's will:
Be it remembered that this fifth day of the 8th month in the year 1736, I, Jane Newlin of the township of Concord in the county of Chester, widow, am weak of body but of sound mind and memory thanks be given to almightyGod for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowingthat it is appointed for all men to die, do make this my last will and testament as followeth, viz:
First, my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses are truly paid and discharged.
I give and bequeath unto my son, Nathaniel Newlin, the great iron pot and the big Bible that was his fathers and 50s in money to be paid by my executors hereafter named within one year after my decease.
My will is that all my personal estate except my horse and cows be valued at a reasonable price and what it is wanting of £100, it is to be taken out of the money due to me upon bonds to make it up to £100 which sum of money I give and bequeath as followeth:
I give to my three sons, Joseph, Nicholas and Nathan, the sum of £5 each to be paid the day of their marriage but if any of them die before marriage, their share is to be equally divided among all the rest of my children and if any of them marry against the allowance or consent of the monthly meeting and my executors, then my will is that they so marrying shall have but 1s and the remaining part of their share to be equally divided among the rest of my children.
I give to my daughter, Rachel Walter, the sum of £16 to be paid in one year after my decease but if she dies before that time then to be equally divided among her children.
I give to my daughter, Elizabeth, the bed and furniture that was her grandfather Newlin's and £5 to be paid at the day of her marriage but if she dies before that or marries contrary to the consent of the monthly meeting and my executor, then the bed to be Jane's and the money to be equally divided among the rest of my children except Nathaniel.
I give to my daughter, Jane, the sum of £16 to be paid at her marriage and also I give to her my saddle to be hers immediately after my decease but if she dies before that time then the money is to be equally divided among the rest of my children except Nathaniel.
I give to my daughter, Mary, also the sum of £16 to be paid also at her marriage but if she dies before that time her share to be equally divided among the rest of my children except Nathaniel.
I give to my daughter, Martha, the said sum of £16 to be paid also at her marriage but if she dies before that time then it is to be divided as the rest above said but if any of my said daughters marry without the approbation of the monthly meeting to whom they belong then my will is that the share of those so marrying shall be equally divided among all my children, they to have 1s each and no more.
And also my will is that my two cows and horse or the value thereof be used to defray my funeral charges and any excess to be equally divided between my two daughters, Mary and Martha.
I give £10 to buy each of my children a great Bible except Nathaniel to be delivered to the three boys when my executors shall think fit.
I also give to my three grandchildren 40s each to be put out to interest at my decease but if any of them die before they come of age, the girls at 18 and the boys at 21 years, then it is to belong to their next brothers or sisters.
My will is that the Bible that is to be given to Rachel, when she dies, be given to which of her children as she pleases.
Also if any of the rest of the girls die before marriage then my will is that they give the said Bible to which of their brother's or sister's children they please and also if any of the boys die before marriage they are to give their said Bibles as above said.
I do hereby constitute and appoint my loving brothers-in-law, Ellis Lewis and John Newlin, to be my executors of this my last will and testament making void any other will or wills by me heretofore made and this to be my last and no other.
