William G. Yarnall, one of the best known of the Civil War Veterans of this section died last evening of infirmities due to his advanced age he being 80 years old at his home on East Park Avenue. His career in the Civil War was an eventful one and he frequently delivered addresses to the pupils of this section on Americanism, a subject dear to his heart and he tried to inculcate it into the minds of the younger generation. He enlisted Feb. 25, 1864 in Co. D, 3rd Regt. Pa. Vol. Inf. for three years. He was wounded twice, the first time at the Battle of the Wilderness and again at Spotsylvania. He was honorably discharged just before the close of the war due to his injuries. He will be given a full military burial on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. His survivors are his wife and these children: William, Chester; Daniel, Charles, Mrs. Wm. Coleman, Mrs. Allen Smith, Mrs. Grant Bickel, all of town; Mrs. Frank Hassler and Mrs. James Dundore, of Lebanon and Joseph residence unknown. He was a member of the U. B. Church for many years and Rev. I. W. Hershey, will perform the last sad rites. [Lebanon Daily News, April 15, 1922, Page 2]
