  SAMUEL KARVER Samuel Karver was born in Berks County,Penn.,Dec. 9,1826 & departed this life May 18,1912. On the 25 th of September 1852,he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Emeline Garber,of Berks County. To this union were born six children--four of which still live to mourn the death of a beloved father:Daniel Karver of Spring Valley,Minn.,Mary Llewellyn,of Philadelphia,Pa., S.W. Karver of Pottstown,Pa.,and H.M. Karver of Chatfield,Minn. On the 6 th of August 1861,he enlisted in Company M., First Regiment,Pennsylvania Cavalry and was honorably discharged on Nov., 27,1862. Mr. Karver was a member of U.B. church of Zion,in which he took an active part until the last few years. The weight of years bore heavily upon him,but lie faithful to the end. He moved to Minnesota in 1881 and settled on a farm near Washington where he lived until death called him. He was in his ususal health up to the hour death called him. On Thursday he was in Wykoff and on Friday visited Spring Valley. Saturday he took his fishing tackle and went down to the creek a short distance away,he being an enthusiastic fisherman. No returning when expected,his son went to look him up and found him on the river bank,dead,from hemorrhage. The funeral was held on the Tuesday following,the sermon being by the pastor of the U.B. church and he was buried in the Washington Cemetery. Inscription Private Company M 1st Pennsylvania Volenteer Calvary August 5 1961. Honorably discharged November 27 1862.
