Janet L. "Jeanette" Henne, 77, Shartlesville, died April 28, 2008, in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, where she had been a patient for 10 weeks. She was the widow of Gilbert J. "Skip" Henne, who died in 1999. They had been married for 50 years.
Born in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Luther L. and Mary (Schach) Knapp.
She was a member of Friedens Church, Shartlesville, and its grief support group, as well as the Shartlesville Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher J. Henne, husband of Lori (Markus), Auburn; and Randolph G. Henne, husband of Brenda (Miller), Muhlenberg Township; and two daughters, Carol A. Torres, and Colleen L. Henne, companion of Jerry Barley, both of Shartlesville.
Other survivors include two sisters, Virginia Merrill, Akron, Ohio; and Fern Brown, Pine Grove.
There are also nine grandchildren: Corey and Brad Torres, Tanya Karlberg, Angela Herman, and Randy, Danielle, Jonathan, Lindsey and Stacey Henne; and four great-grandchildren: Bree and Bryn Torres, Miranda Herman and Braden Karlberg.
She was predeceased by a brother, Luther L. Knapp Jr.
She will also be missed by her cat, Peaches.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Friedens Church, Shartlesville, with the Rev. Jerry Kulp officiating. Burial will be in Strausstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to service time in the church.
