- 15 Nov 2006: Irene M. Moyer, 87, of ECC Retirement Village- StoneRidge Village Campus, Myerstown, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the home. She was the wife of the late LaRoy H. Moyer who died December 13, 2004. Born in Marion Township, PA, March 14, 1919, daughter of the late Jonathan R. and Sadie (Seibert) Bickel. She was a 1935 graduate of Wilson High school, West Lawn, PA. She worked as a seamstress at Gloray Knitting Mills, Robesonia, Pa., for 28 years retiring in 1989. Prior to that she worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Reading, and Publix Shirt Co., Myerstown. She was a member of Tulpehocken UCC, Richland, where she taught Sunday school since she was 15 years old. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping and being with her grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Kathleen, wife of Henry Miller of Myerstown, Janette, wife of Craig Showalter, Myerstown; son Robin, husband of Kathy Moyer of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson; brother J. Ray Bickel of Richland, PA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister Grace E. Miller. Funeral Friday at Tulpehocken UCC, Richland. Interment in adjoining church cemetery.
