- Robert E. Ebling, 78, of Myerstown died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at his residence. He was the husband of Gloria R. Scipioni Ebling, to whom he was married 52 years on July 9. Born in Myerstown, Pa., on January 23, 1929, son of the late Elmer C. and Maggie (Bickel) Ebling, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been a co-owner of Ebling's Meat Market, Myerstown, for 50 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Myerstown UCC, Myerstown VFW, Mt. Aetna Fire Co., Myerstown Rod & Gun Club, life member of the Richland American Legion, vice president and co-founder of the Richland Hunting Camp, co-founder of the Hunting Lodge. He had been the vice chairman and secretary of the Myerstown Water Authority for 25 1/2 years serving as vice chairman until two weeks before his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive trap shooting, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife he is survived by five sons, Dennis, husband of Teresa Ebling of Myerstown, Gary, husband of Lori Ebling of Myerstown, Dean, husband of Joanna Ebling of Bethel, Greg Ebling of Myerstown, Dale Ebling of Myerstown; former daughter-in-law Michelle Ebling, Myerstown; seven grandchildren; sister Helen Sheffy of Lebanon; brothers Warren Ebling of Richland, David, husband of Joanne Ebling of Myerstown; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Jay, Stanley, Vernon and Elmer Ebling, and a sister Anna Hocker. A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. from Myerstown UCC, 306 W. Main Ave., Myerstown. Visitation will be held Friday at 6 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to GSH Hospice, P.O. Box 1281, Lebanon, PA 17042 or Myerstown U.C.C., 310 W.
