- Fourth Death From Typhoid Fever
In Kissling, Katzaman and Wagner Families--Husband and Wife Pass Away--Four Little Orphans--One an Infant.
When Lloyd Kissling, Bernville, aged 23 years, 2 months and 10 days died at the Homeopathic Hospital of typhoid fever, it made the fourth death in the Katzaman, Wagner and Kissling families from this disease. Elmer Katzaman, a brother-in-law of the latest victim, passed away at his home in Bernville several weeks ago. He was the first and was followed by his sister, Mrs. Alpheus C. Wagner, who died in the same home as did her brother. She was 22 years of age and is survived by a two-months-old baby. On Sunday, Oct. 13, Mrs. Lloyd Kissling (nee Katzaman), wife of the latest victim, died in her 23d year. Her husband had been admitted to the hospital the day previous and was not told of the demise of his wife. She was buried on Thursday, Oct. 17. Another brother, Oswald Katzaman, is seriously ill with the disease at his home in Richland, Lebanon County. Lloyd Kissling, the last of the family to succumb to the affliction, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday evening. He was admitted to the institution on Saturday, Oct. 12. There survive the following children, the oldest but four years of age: Helen, Verna, John and a baby 12 days old. Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Kissling, grandparents of the children, are taking care of them. Of the Katzaman family there remain the parents and these brothers: Howard and Calvin, Sinking Spring, and Oswald, Richland, Lebanon County. Undertaker Henninger removed the remains to the home of the deceased.
