- Patricia “Pat” I. Triska, 85, of Boone, passed away Friday, January 20 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Patricia Ilene (Moxley) Triska was born on October 10, 1931 in Prescott, Arizona, the second daughter of John W. and Thelma (DeCoria) Moxley. Pat attended Salem High School, graduating in 1949. She went on to nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, IA.
After attending one year of nursing school, she married William G. Triska on July 9, 1950, in Salem, IA. After marriage they lived in Salem, IA, Mount Union, IA, Mount Pleasant, IA and settled in Boone after Bill accepted the position of manager of the Episcopal Camp and Conference Center in 1976. There they made many cherished friends.
After Bill’s death, she returned to nursing school at Des Moines Area Community College, graduating in 1989. She worked for several years at the Evangelical Free Church Home. In 1995, she was ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church.
Pat volunteered for many organizations, including but not limited to, Hospice of Central Iowa, Red Rock Community Action, and Habitat for Humanity. She served as Head Chaplain at Boone County Hospital for many years. Especially important to her were her two trips to Uganda as a missionary. She enjoyed reading, her St. Louis Cardinals and attending her grandchildren’s events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 1986; her sister, Kathleen Barney Kasowski, in 2015, and her grandson, Jason William Triska, on May 8, 2016.
Pat is survived by her son, Mike (Jackie) Triska, of Cook, MN, their daughters Michelle (Doug) Schulz, Jacob and Emma, and Rebecca Triska; her daughter, Julie (Craig) Eppert of rural Madrid, IA, their daughters, Amanda (Matthew) Meals and Kennedy, and Lisa (Tyler) Schmidt and Colby. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
