Mr Thomas Price was born of Quaker parents in Marlborough township, Stark County, Ohio, October 29, 1826 and died Nov 6, 1916.
He was the youngest son of Thomas Price, Sr and Sarah Cope Price.
Four brothers, Ezekial, Jesse, Isaac, John and his sister, Sarah, have all preceded him to the grave.
He married Elizabeth Dillon Williamson in 1845 in accordance with the customs and religious rites of the Quakers.
To this union were born five children; Mrs Gideon (Lucetta) Bailey of Goshen, with whom he made his home since 1904; Lyndon Dillon, Mrs Levi (Elma) Bailey and twins, Olive and Oliver, who died in infancy.
In 1852 he moved to Elkhart county, Indiana, settling on a farm now owned by Philip Kilmer two and one-half miles southeast of Wakarusa. Form the old log cabin of his first home he later moved to an 80-acre tract now owned by Charles Starrett and later still to the farm now occupied by his son, Lynden.
In August 1862, answering Lincoln’s call for more troops he enlisted in Co D 100th Indiana Volunteer Infantry under Captain Ruel M Johnson, who was later breveted Colonel of his Regiment. He was one of “the dashing Yankee boys” who followed Sherman to the sea and up in the Carolinas to Washington, where in 1865 he was mustered out of the US Service.
Shortly after coming home from the army, his home was saddened by the death of his wife.
He was married to Sarah Landis in 1867. To this union were born two children, Mrs Eli (Mina) Smeltzer of Wakarusa and Mrs Joe (Cloe) Clements of Adamson, Michigan.
He united with the Christian church at Wakarusa about 1889 and was a loyal member always.
