- Howard W. Lentz, 91, Howard W. Lentz, 91, of Clifton Heights, PA, died March 5, 2013 at Crozer Keystone Hospice.
Born and raised in Phila., he was a resident of Clifton Heights for over 60 years. Mr. Lentz was a graduate of Overbrook High School, class 1939 and during WWII served aboard an escort ship, The USS Joyce.
He was a partner in Kretchmer Auto Parts in West Phila and later worked at Clifton Auto Parts until his retirement in 1994. He was a founding and senior member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Clifton Heights. He served the Church in many capacities; as council member, usher, lector and greeter. Mr. Lentz was a member and recording secretary of the Bartram Assembly # 55 Artisans Fraternal organization.
He also belonged to the Aldan American Legion Post, enjoyed his home on the Chesapeake and spent time as a Mr. Fix-it. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara H. (nee Walker) Lentz, who died in 2006 Survivors: include his wife of 3 years, Shirley Zampitella Lentz, children, Howard W. Jr., Bruce E. (Phyllis), James R. Sr., Nancy L. (David) McCaffrey and Richard A. ( Kathy) Lentz, Grandchildren, James R. (Vanessa) Lentz, Jr. ,Craig (Aimee), Stacey Zimmerman (John), Kevin (Erin), Jenna Miller (Dave), Krista McCaffrey, Jennifer, Sean McCaffrey, Justin Lentz and 7 great-grandchildren, step-daughter, Debbie Zampitella, step grandson and 4 step great grandchildren.
Service: Funeral Service will be 12noon Mon at the Toppitzer Funeral Home at Arlington, 2900 State Rd. Drexel Hill 19026, where friends may call after 11AM, Interment: Arlington Cemetery.
