  Vera Williams Walker of Cocoa, FL passed away at the age of 105 on Saturday, October 6, 2018. She was born in Camaguey, Cuba in 1912, daughter of American Quaker missionaries. The family returned to West Palm Beach, Florida when Vera was five years old. She attended public schools in West Palm Beach. She obtained a BS in Home Economics and a Master of Science in Nutrition from Florida State College for Women (later FSU). She was married to Robert E. Walker and spent her professional life in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked for the State of Florida in several professional capacities for 10 years. She taught Home Economics at R.E. Lee High School in Jacksonville for 20 years. She was active in several community and professional organizations in Jacksonville. In retirement she moved to Cocoa in 1974. She was active in many community organizations as board member and supporter. She was a member and Trustee of Rockledge Presbyterian Church. She served two terms on the Brevard County School Board from 1984-1992, including a rotating term as chairwoman. She had four children: Marjorie Harriman of Cocoa, FL; Loren Walker of Salem, Virginia; Ronald Walker of Alameda, California; and Gordon Kent Walker of Poway, California. She had nine grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 3 at Rockledge Presbyterian Church, Rev. Doctor Michael Andrews, officiating. Interment will be at Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, Florida. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on Oct. 19, 2018
