- Michael D. Hackman, 24, of 812 Wisteria Drive, Ephrata, died Saturday morning at the home of a friend in Ephrata. An autopsy was performed but the results were not available. Death appears to be due to natural causes, according to a funeral home spokesman, who said Hackman had a history of heart trouble. He was a 1982 graduate of Ephrata High School, where was active in football, baseball and basketball. Hackman was formerly employed by the C.G. Sweigart Oil Co. of Ephrata for three years. For the last three years, he was employed by Burkholder Paving of Ephrata as an equipment operator. He was a member of the Cocalico Sportsman's Club, the National Rifle Association and the Northern Lancaster County Game and Fish Association. He was also a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cloister Post, Ephrata. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Marguerite A. Getz Hackman, with whom he lived, and Samuel P. Hackman, 1515 E. Main St., Ephrata. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Carole Hackman, Ephrata; two brothers, Melvin Sweigart, Lancaster, and Gregory, at home; two sisters, Victoria L., Denver, and Roberta Y., Ephrata; three stepsisters; Theresa, wife of Bruce Frymyer, Ephrata; Pamela, wife of Glenn Shultz, Lititz; and Stacy, wife of Darvin Davis, Akron; and two step brothers, Gregory Eshelman and Michael Eshelman, both of Denver.
