  Funeral services for John William Larew, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. John Larew died following a lengthy illness at the Lone Tree Care Center. Officiating will be Rev. William Keller. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation started at 1 p.m. today. John Larew was born Sept. 12, 1888, in Wellman, the son of William and Addie Norton Larew. His marriage to Ethel Stonebarger took place on Oct. 25, 1922, in Iowa City. He was a veteran of World War I and was a retired Rock Island Arsenal employee. Survivors include two sons, John Jr. and Albert J., both of Lone Tree; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Vera Jo) Gumtaw of Oak Park, Ill.; two brothers, Charlie of Lone Tree and Floyd of Nichols.
