Norma M. Larew, 86, of Lone Tree, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Pioneer Park Care Center in Lone Tree.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Norma. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Norma May Eden was born on August 12, 1927, in rural Lone Tree the daughter of Homer E. and Hattie S. (Pruess) Eden. Norma entered Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City as a cadet nursing student and received her R.N. Degree. On February 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to John W. "Jack" Larew in Iowa City. Norma worked for the University of Iowa for 9 years and then the Lone Tree Health Care Center for 15 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, the Lone Tree American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose of Iowa City. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, fishing, bowling and traveling.
Norma will be deeply missed by her husband, Jack of Lone Tree; children, Teresa J. Larew-Bianchi and husband, Richard of Surprise, Arizona, Cheryl L. Larew-Thompson and husband, Fredric of Highland Park, Illinois and Denise M. Larew-Robertson and husband, Kenneth of Corvallis, Oregon; four grandchildren, Matthew Robertson and wife, Mandy, Jared Robertson and wife, Heather, Danielle Larew-Lincoln and Jacquelyn Larew-Lincoln; one great granddaughter, Ruthie Belle Robertson and siblings, Vernon E. Eden and wife, Sharon of Iowa City and Eva V. Eden of West Liberty.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John W. Larew, III, two brothers and one sister.
