  he was the eldest daughter of Edward Foulke and Ellin (Eleanor) Hugh and was born prior to 1683, probably at Coed-y-Foel, Isaf, parish of Llandderfel, Gwynedd, Wales. Gwen, her parents, and 8 siblings emigrated from Wales to Philadelphia aboard the ship "Robert and Elizabeth," arriving July 17, 1698. The family settled in the Quaker community of Gwynedd, Pennsylvania and were among the earliest settlers there. Gwen married Alexander Edwards, son of Alexander and Margaret (verch/ap Jon) Edwards of Montgomery township, Pennsylvania, on December 6, 1703 at the Gwynedd Friends Meeting house. They had 6 children: Edward, Thomas, Joseph, Martha, Alexander, and Jane. Gwen and her husband later became Baptists and members of this Lower Dublin Pennepack Church. Several of their children and other relatives are interred in this cemetery as well. Her date of death is from Gwynedd Friends Meeting record. Inscription "Gwen Edwards" (rest is illegible).
