He married Elizabeth Anstat, b abt 1757, d after 1850. One of their children was Solomon Moser, who married Mary Ann Foust. From there, the line of descent runs to Solomon J. Moser (b 1836, d 1909, m Hannah Elliot), then to Joseph Alonzo Moser (b 1863, d 1915, m Elizabeth Green), then to Roy Wesley Moser (b 1898, d 1981, m Mamie Vontella Smith), and then to Margie May Moser, b 2 May 1932 -- my mother. Jacob's father was Adam Moser, b. 1710, d 1763. He married Anna Maria Boehm, b abt 1710-15, d abt 1761-63. Adam's father was George Moser, b 1684, d unknown. He married Eve Eckersweiler, b 1685, d 1762. I'm told that the family originated in a region that has sometimes been part of Germany, sometimes Switzerland, and sometimes Austria. Clearly the ancestral names are German/Austrian. I believe that Jacob Moser is the member of the family who emigrated to the U.S., and that the previous two generations stayed in Europe -- but I'm not certain of that. Let me know if there might be a connection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submitter: Bailey Francis Subject: Re: Barnett Moser b. 1795 in NC Message: The Jacob M OSER, b. 1755 in Frederick County, MD, d. abt. 1795 in Lincoln County, NC, who married Mary Magdalena UNKNOWN, was the father of this Barnett MOSER. This Jacob was the s/o Leonard MOSER and Maria Sarah BENKELE. The Jacob MOSER, b. 1753 in Berks County, PA, d. 2 July 1813 in Anderson County, TN, is the one who married Elizabeth ANSTAT/ONSTATT. This Jacob MOSER was the s/o Johann Adam MOSER and Anna Maria BOEHM. These two Jacobs have been confused many times. The proof is in the Revolutionary War Widow's pension application of Elizabeth (Onstatt) MOSER WILLIAMS from Marion County, IN. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Submitter: Bailey Francis Subject: Re: John and Abraham Mosier/Moser Anderson County. Tennessee Message: There was an Abraham MOSER, b. 1756 in Berks Co, PA, d. 22 Oct 1836 in Anderson Co, TN, s/o Frederick MOSER and Maria Barbara LIESER. He fits the age bracket of Abram MOSER, age 70-80, who was in the 1830 Anderson County, TN census. This Abraham married Veronica D. LIESER. The Abraham MOZIER who was in the 1840 Anderson County, TN, census is shown as age 40-50 and must be a different person compared to the one in the 1830 census. That makes the Abraham MOSER in the 1830 census a very likely candidate to be Abraham, son of Frederick. The John MOSER in the 1830 census is shown as age 40-50 in the online transcription of the 1830 census. The John MOZIER in the online transcription of the 1840 census is shown as age 40-50 also, so there might be a transcription error, or these are two different persons. I haven't studied the ages and sexes of the children in the censuses to be able to say whether or not these are likely the same. Unfortunately, I do not have any information on the descendants of Abraham MOSER, s/o Frederick MOSER and Maria Barbara LIESER, but that might be a good place for you to start your search. I'd be inte rested in learning if you make the connection. Jacob MOSER, b. 1753, who married Elizabeth ONSTATT/ANSTAT, died in Anderson County, TN, in 1813. He was a Revolutionary War soldier. He was the son of Adam MOSER and Anna Maria BOEHM. BTW, I am a descendant of Leonard MOSER, many of whose descendants settled in Monroe County, TN. Bailey Francis Atlanta, GA
