  Mrs. Mary E. Pownall Leard, wife of M.K. Leard, died at her home in Park street, at six o'clock Sunday morning, as a result of paralytic stroke. Her death was a great shock to her husband and friends. She became ill shortly after noon on Friday, the illness developing into paralysis by evening, and she continued to grow worse until death ensued. Mrs. Leard was born near Christiana, Lancaster County, Pa., but had lived in Harrisburg for about twenty-five years before she and her husband came to Tarentum in September 1910. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, bringing her letter to it from the Pine Street Presbyterian church of Harrisburg. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be private later in Prospect cemetery. (obituary – Valley Daily News, Tarentum, PA)
