John CHATFIELD 1841 – 1862 ============================= Old Graveyard on Ward & Kenton Street Urbana, Ohio 1805 – 1856 The graveyard was located on the southeast corner of East Ward and North Kenton streets (old lots 211-212), on Ward's original plot. Later, Samuel McCord also deeded the two lots north of these on the northeast corner of Ward and Kenton. These and the original Ward lots became known as the "Old Graveyard". The cemetery was discontinued in 1856 when Oak Dale Cemetery, Patrick Avenue opened. The first burial in Oak Dale was made June 15 1856. The Old Graveyard was then abandoned and most of the remains were moved to Oak Dale. However, some remains were not removed. Perhaps because of poor record keeping they could not be located. =============================
