Florence (Staniszewski) Obidowski, 82, of Cheswick, formerly of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Harrison Township. Born July 30, 1925, in New Kensington, to the late Boleslaw and Cora Staniszewski, she was a 1943 graduate of New Kensington High School (Ken-Hi) and worked in the emergency room at the former Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, as a secretary. She was a member of St. Mary Church, New Kensington, where she was a member of Christian Mothers and enjoyed shopping, reading and solving crossword puzzles. She was kind, generous, loving, caring, adored her grandchildren and was very proud of her Polish heritage. Florence is survived by her son, Andrew (Susan) Obidowski, of Aspinwall; daughter, Frances "Sis" (Steve) Cochrane, of Cornwall, N.Y.; four granddaughters, Erika Giese, Morgan Obidowski and Elizabeth and Rachel Cochrane; and brother, Val Staniszewski, of Lower Burrell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Obidowski, who died in 1990; three brothers, Edward and Joseph Stanley and Leonard Staniszewski; and sister, Gabriel Muretic. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
