  William J. Fruendel, Jr., 84, of Harrisburg passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II - enlisting June 03, 1943 - where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross in the China Burma India Campaign. William was a retired Tax Accountant for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. After retiring, he and his wife Sarah lived in Englewood, Florida. William was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Enola. He was a Past Commander and member of the American Legion Post 751, Enola, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10178, Englewood, Florida, the Enola Sportsman's Association, a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 11553, Englewood, Florida, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and a member of the China Burma India (Basha) Group of Venice, Florida. William was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a volunteer for the former Harrisburg State Hospital with the Saint Dymphna Society. He was preceded in death by his parents: William J. and Helen (Dunworth) Freundel; his wife: Sarah E. (Heiney) Freundel; and, his three brothers: Donald, Joseph, and Gerald Freundel. Surviving William is his daughter: Susan M. Payes of Richmond, Virginia; his son: William G. Fruendel of Mechanicsburg; his five grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his great-great-granddaughter; his sister: Joyce Constantino of Delaware; and, his brother: John W. Freundel of Bethlehem. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 04, 2009 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Enola. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services Wednesday in the church. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. TSGT US ARMY AIR FORCES WORLD WAR II
