- June Louise Hackman Capitain Galebach, 79, died October 9, 2011 at North Fulton Hospital, in Roswell, GA. She was born on July 11, 1932 in Willow Street, PA, the youngest daughter of Harry and Anna Hackman.
She graduated from West Lampeter High School in 1950 and received her RN from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy in 1954. Shortly thereafter she married Dr. Robert Capitain and moved to Arlington, MA where they had two children. In 1971 June married her childhood friend Henry Galebach in Braintree, MA where they lived until Hank's retirement from Armstrong World Industries. They moved to the Cambridge Community of Hobe Sound, FL in 1982 where June claims they found paradise and good friends and neighbors second to none. After her initial retirement, June was employed at Stuart Nursing & Restorative Care in Stuart, FL until her retirement in 2010 at the age of 78. She considered the staff and residents of SN&RC her second family.
She was a woman of strong faith, regular in church attendance at the First Congregational Church, Braintree, MA and the First United Methodist Church in Hobe Sound where she sang in the church choirs for many years.
June had a genuine concern for others as evidenced by her considerable formal and informal volunteer activities throughout the Cambridge, Hobe Sound and Stuart communities. June was loved by so many precisely because of her selfless nature, quirky sense of humor and kindness. She loved the beauty of nature and the world around her, especially her beloved Florida.
June was pre-deceased by her husband Hank in 2007 and her son, Bruce Capitain in 2009 in Mammoth Lake, CA.
She is survived by her brother Carl Hackman of Lancaster, PA, her daughter Patricia Griffiths of Alpharetta, GA; step-daughter, Donna Butler of Enfield, NH and step-son William Galebach of Edgewater, MD. June took great delight in her grandchildren David, Craig and Tyler Griffiths of Alpharetta GA; Amy Crone of Gambrills, MD; and great-grandchildren Caedon and Zoe Crone. June moved to Alpharetta, GA over Labor Day weekend to be with her daughter and family during the last few weeks of her life. The family is very grateful for this - June's final gift to them.
Her ashes will be interred in Willow Street and Penryn, PA at a memorial service scheduled for the springtime. A celebration of life and love will be held for her many Florida friends and family in Cambridge - Hobe Sound, FL after the holidays. A notice will be posted in the newspaper.
She was an extraordinary woman who is loved and missed by many. REQUIESCAT IN PACE
