  Daughter of Joseph and Hannah Glover Gilpin, wife of Richard Eavenson (son of Richard Eavenson and Jemima Newlin). Joseph and Hannah Gilpin came to the colonies in 1695, settling in Birmingham Township in Chester County (now Delaware County), Pennsylvania. The property had been given to Hannah as a wedding present from her uncle. (Another accounting makes the claim that the property was willed to Joseph Gilpin by William Lamboll in 1683.) The young family resided in a cave on the property until such time as their frame dwelling was erected. A stone addition was later added to the frame dwelling. Legend has it that General Howe commandeered the house briefly as his headquarters in 1777 after the Battle of Brandywine. Alice and Richard Eavenson married in 1739 and resided in Goshen. Their children were: 1) Esther Eavenson m. John Taylor (son of Richard and Eleanor Taylor) in 1758 2) Enoch Eavenson 3) Hannah Eavenson 4) Thomas Eavenson 5) Isaac Eavenson
