- SULLIVAN -Leo L. Horn, 77, of Sullivan died 1:05 p.m. Wednesday (June 22, 1994) in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Rev. Dr. David Leslie officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with 8 p.m. Masonic rites. Burial with military graveside services will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Sullivan First Christian Church or George A. Sentel Masonic Lodge 764.
Mr. Horn was born on Aug. 22, 1916, in Moultrie County, son of Chester and Freda Shasteen Horn. He was the retired owner of Horn Insurance Agency. He was a 1934 graduate of Sullivan High School and a 1938 graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a former Sullivan city treasurer, former director and secretary-treasurer of the Sullivan Savings & Loan, past president and treasurer of the Sullivan Kiwanis Club, past president and director of the Sullivan Country Club and was club golf champion in 1939 and 1941. He was a 50-year member, past master and former treasurer of George A. Sentel Masonic Lodge 764, member Sullivan Chapter 128 R.A.M., Sullivan Council 91 and Bloomington Consistory A.A.S.R. He was a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church, having served as Sunday School superintendent, chairman of the official board, Deacon, Elder and trustee. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He married Dorothy Body on June 4, 1941, in Bement.
Surviving are his wife; son, Alan and wife Marjorie Horn of Sullivan; daughter, Jane Ann and husband Steve Buxton of Dallas, Texas; brother, Jim of Sullivan; grandchildren, Zak Horn of Sullivan; Kelly and Jill Buxton of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
