LeRoy M. Lape, 64, of 150 Bingaman St., St. Lawrence, justice of the peace in that borough, died this morning in the Reading Hospital.
Employed for many years as an outside erector for the Textile Machine Works, he held the justice of the peace post for the past three years.
Born in Millcreek Twp., Lebanon Co., a son of the late Evan E. and Cora A. (Dengler) Lape. He was a member of the United Church of Christ denomination.
He was active in many Masonic organizations in Mexico where he lived for 10 years. He held memberships in Royal Arch Chapter in Mexico City; Ivanhoe Commandery No. 2, Knights Templar, of Mexico, of which he was a past commander; City of Mexico County No. 2, Royal and Selected Masons; City of Mexico Consistory; Aztec Temple of the Shriners; and Aztec Temple No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star, Mexico City, where he was a past worthy patron.
He was also a member of T-L-Jefferson-Benton Lodge 622, F&AM, Benton, Ky.; St. Lawrence Republican League; Berks County Magistrates' Assn., and Pennsylvania Magistrates Assn. He was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was survived by his widow, Mary E. (Lochman) Lape; a son, Jacque R., West Reading; a daughter, June F., wife of Daniel Harper, Montrose; five grandchildren; two sisters, Cora, wife of Clyde Pleam, Kenhorst, and Anna, wife of H.H. Coffin, Miami, Fla.; and a brother, Evan, Miami.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, the Rev. Clyde E. Huber officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
