- Luke V. Etchberger, 95, of Spring Twp., passed away December 25, 2021. Son of the late Harry and Verna Etchberger, he is survived by his wife, June; they celebrated their 70th anniversary on December 22nd. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served stateside during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Stephen) Doughty, Ambler, and Karen (Michael) Walulek, Fleetwood; grandchildren, Graham, Tara, and Leslie; three step great grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas, and Richard; and three sisters, Ruby Bauman, Linda Sallade, and Judy Kurowski; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Robert (Hap), Carl, William (Bill), and Russell, and sisters, Jean Herneisen, Peg Shearer, Carolyn Hammond, Phyllis Kissling, and Anna Etchberger.
After retiring from Carpenter Technology, he enjoyed spending more time with his lifelong love of gardening, abundantly sharing vegetables and flowers with friends, family and neighbors. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed watching birds and wildlife and loved sharing his passion for nature and the outdoors with his extended family. Along with three of his brothers, they owned a hunting camp in Lycoming County for 30 years where many happy memories were made with family and friends. He was a member of Cushion Peak Rod and Gun Club. He was also a member of St. John's (Hain's) UCC, Wernersville, where he was a former member of the Consistory.
The Family would like to thank Spiritrust Lutheran Hospice and also the Highlands of Wyomissing for their compassionate care.
Services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, Dec. 30th, at St. John's (Hain's) UCC, 591 N. Church Rd., Wernersville. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM, Thursday, at the Church. Burial will be in Hain's Church Cemetery. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville is handling arrangements.
