  Maria Sybilla Kobel was the sister of Johann Heinrich Kobel. Johann Heinrich Kobel is one of the surviving sons of Henry Kobel and Maria Salome Hoffman (along with three of their eight children) who were murdered at their home in Bethel Township, Berks County PA on 16 Nov 1755, by marauding Indians. This occurrence is known historically as the "Kobel massacre." see Henry Kobel and/or Maria Salome Hoffman Kobel Their suggestion: (#48630835) ------------------------- Hi, I believe this is slightly incorrect, in wording, according to what I have been reading online from other geneologists. It says "Johann Heinrich Kobel is one of the surviving sons of Henry Kobel", when in fact Johann Heinrich is actually Henry Kobel." His oldest child at time of attack was 14, which would have been about 1740 birth. Maria, born ca 1711 is actually the sister of the father of the family that was killed according to other major geneologists " Footnote: The father Henry Kobel was born as Johann Heinrich Kobel on 20 July 1712. He was the oldest son of Jacob Kobel, who was the 6th great grandfather to Wynter Reed Newhouse via Henry's older sister Maria Sybilla. Maria Sybilla Kobel, born in 1711, married Johann Adam Dieffenbach, so Maria and Johann Adam Dieffenbach are Wynter Reed Newhouse's 5th great grandparents." References: Shirley J.
