- William F. "Bill" Gerber, 75, of Shillington, passed away July 2, 2022, at 9:50 AM at Complete Care at Berkshire where he was a guest since May 28, 2021. Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Floyd and Ruth (Kopp) Gerber. He was the husband of Lori E. (Potts) Gerber with whom he shared 18 years of marriage.
A U.S Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he was a member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Sinking Spring, Keystone Fire Co. # 1 of Shillington, Greenfields Fire Co. Union Hose Fire Co. of Schuylkill Haven, and the Township of Spring Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter and captain of the Fire Police.
Bill was an avid train collector and loved to build train layouts. He loved his big bands and country music, and was a sports fan, especially the Reading Royals. Bill attended Schuylkill Valley High School and then Steven's Trade School in Lancaster for carpentry.
He is survived by his wife Lori, his daughters – Tammy L. Gerber, Reading., Denise M. wife of Christopher Yerger, Shillington, Kimberly R. wife of Michael Fichthorn, Maidencreek Twp., his sister – Dolores wife of Calvin Homan, New Holland, his grandchildren – Trinity, Kristina, Samantha, Tyler, Emily, Tia and his nephew Robert Haag, Reading. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Norma Haag.
Visitation from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington on Thursday, July 21, 2022, starting at 6:00 PM followed by his Celebration of Life service beginning at 7:00 PM. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate. Funeral procession departs Klee Funeral Home on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 12:30 PM for Military honors rendered by the U.S. Army honor guard at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 2:00 PM.
