  Charles Henry Dickinson, better known as "Dick, the printer," is dead. Mr. Dickinson collapsed on D street this morning on his way to work and was dead before a physician arrived. Death was due to a sudden heart attack, according to the doctor. The sudden death of Mr. Dickinson came as a severe shock to Mrs. Dickinson and the many friends of the Dickinson's. Mr. Dickinson had enjoyed good health and even yesterday he was at work attending to his business as usual. Last night he was in good health but later in the evening he complained of indigestion. This morning he cooked his own breakfast and started out for the office. He left the house with a smile, as he usually did and seemed in the best of health. On D street, in front of the Christian Science church, he was overcome. Eye witnesses said he seemed to suffer a fit and crumpled to the sidewalk. Miss Ella Barkyoumb, who saw Mr. Dickinson fall, called to Scout Master A. N. Pickard, Scouts Jack Jones and Victor Reno who were at the Puntenny home. They rushed across the street and carried Mr. Dickinson to the Elwood Cooper home. It was thought he was dead then. A call was sent for Dr. Raymond T. Francis who pronounced life extinct when he arrived. Undertaker Diffendderffer was notified. Coroner Reardon who investigated, said no inquest would be necessary. Mr. Dickinson was born in Maquoketa, Jackson county, Iowa on May 12, 1859. He came to Oxnard in 1906 and in 1908 he was employed by Ray Gabbert, in the Courier print shop. He started in business for himself in 1913, running the Dickinson Printery, and remained at this business until the time of his death. He is survived by his widow, and two sisters, Mrs. E. J. Bardwell of Chicago and Mrs. W. R. Hall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There are no children. Mr. Dickinson was married 46 years. He had often said that he and Mrs. Dickinson were partners in everything. She had a half interest in the printery. Mr. Dickinson was known to everyone here as "Dick, the printer," which name had stuck to him for years. He had a host of friends here and throughout the county who will be grieved at the news of his sudden death. No funeral arrangements have been made as yet.
