  Longtime area resident Robert S. Dickinson, who lived in Glendale and Burbank, died on Saturday from congestive heart failure. He was 82. Dickinson made his mark in the field of radio when he became a part-time disk jockey after graduating from high school. He attended Glendale Community College and had plans on furthering his radio career until he was drafted into the Army in 1942. After he retired from his career with RCA as manager of sales and marketing, Dickinson dedicated his time to serving the community. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club since 1995 and served as chairman for the Meals on Wheels program. In Burbank, Dickinson served as the chairman of the board of trustees for the First Methodist Church of Burbank, where he was a member since 1974. Dickinson was born on March 30, 1925, in Hollywood. He is survived by his wife, Gerri; daughters Laurel Ward and son-in-law John, Lori Clark and son-in-law William, Pamela Stephens and Tracey Cawdrey; four grandsons; two granddaughters-in-law; four granddaughters; one grandson-in-law and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Burbank, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to the First United Methodist Church, Providence St. Joseph Foundation or a charity of choice. Burbank Leader: Sept. 12, 2007
