  Dale Hunter Coburn Lifelong area resident and avid fisherman Dale Hunter Coburn, 69, of Kelso died at the Cowlitz Care Center April 19, 2002. He was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Martinez, Calif., to Roy and Elma (Larabee) Coburn. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview in 1950 and spent most of his life in Kelso and Castle Rock. He spent served four years in the Navy and 19 years in the Navy reserve, retiring as an E7 senior chief and was a member of the naval honor guard. Mr. Coburn worked in the Weyerhaeuser Co. pulp division as a steam engineer for 39 years, retiring in 1993. His favorite place to be was in a boat with a fishing pole in his hand. He was an avid boater and water skier. He'll be remembered for his sense of humor and devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Coburn. He was a member of the Kelso Elks, Castle Rock American Legion and Cowlitz Game & Anglers. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Coburn at home in Kelso; two sons, Roy Coburn of Seaside, Ore., and Paul Coburn of Longview; a daughter, Sandra Kytta of Longview; a brother, Kay Victor Coburn of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his mother, of Longview; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1218, Longview, WA 98632.
