Funeral services and visitation will be April 12 in Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Phyllis Ann (Stachowiak) Hackman, 84, of Granville and Port Isabel, Texas, died April 1, 2014, in Brownsville, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle, with the Rev. Paul Meismer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
Phyllis was born Aug. 18, 1929, in La Salle to Bernard and Cecelia (Zywica) Stachowiak. She married her husband of 65 years, Henry L. Hackman on Oct. 15, 1949, in Chicago.
She graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School in 1946 and from St. Mary's School of Nursing in La Salle in 1950. Phyllis worked for many years as a registered nurse and then as the office manager of her husband's insurance agency in Peru. She was a lifelong resident of the Illinois Valley and a 25-year winter Texan. Phyllis was an avid traveler, golfer and card player and was involved in many, many community activities. She also was one of the first female Paul Harris Fellows from Peru Rotary Club.
Survivors are her husband, Henry Louis Hackman of Granville; one daughter, Dr. Jan Hackman of Northampton, Mass.; one son, Henry Alan (Debra Marini) Hackman of La Salle; three grandchildren, Philip Derr-Hackman of Providence, R.I., Brielle Hackman of Chicago and Henry Tyler Hackman of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Rosemary Bottomley of Utica; and one brother, Ken Stachowiak of Indio, Calif.
She leaves a large community of friends in both Illinois and Texas.
