- Donald E. Dickinson, 86, Logan, passed away Feb. 1 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Feb. 6 at the United Methodist Church in Logan with Pastor Jack Hofmockel officiating. Organist was Kris Gash and vocalist Angie Pryor. Musical selections were: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "How Great Thou Art." Honorary bearers were Chuck Dickinson, Carol Dickinson, Roy Matthews, Jim Grosvenor, Lynn Dickinson, Doug Rosengren, Terry McMillan and Ricky Dickinson. Casket bearers were, Gale Dickinson, Jason Sherer, Mike Dickinson, Gary Dickinson, Jacob Hedger and Blake Dickinson. Final resting place was Harris Grover Cemetery near Logan.
Donald was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Logan to Roy A. and Nettie (Kellogg) Dickinson. He graduated from Beebeetown High School and married Ruth Foutch, Dec. 29, 1946, at her parents' home. He farmed in the Beebeetown area. Ruth passed away June 6, 1994. Donald loved gardening, card club and being involved in the community, schools and church. He was on the school board for 12 years and was very instrumental in getting the new school. Donald was proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time at their many school activities. He was very devoted to his son Richard.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, brothers, Leroy and Bob; sisters, Eva McMillan and Dorothy Grosvenor.
Survivors include his children, Richard Dick-inson of Missouri Valley; Barbara Sherer and husband Jerry of Logan; David Dickinson and wife Mary of Logan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Dickinson and wife Marie of Logan; sister-in-laws, Sondra Dickinson of Woodbine, Imogene Nor-cutt of St. Charles; brothers-in-law, Jack McMillan of Logan, Frank Grosve-nor and wife Beulah of Vancouver, Canada; nieces, nephews, good friend Lyda Geise and a host of neighbors and friends.
