  The Rev. Maryellen Bowe died Sunday, April 5, 2009, in a local nursing home. She was born July 10, 1912, in Pasco, Wash., to Nelson and Mildred (Brown) Bruce. She lived much of her life in California and was an ordained minister with vast experiences in administrative, educational and ministerial areas. She owned and operated a chain of beauty schools in the San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys for 22 years. She also taught school at Vallejo College for seven years. Maryellen entered Unity School of Ministerial Training in 1971 and graduated and was ordained in 1973. Maryellen was a very educated woman and had a doctorate in metaphysics. She served in countless positions in the church and served as senior minister of the Unity Church in Flushing, N.Y., for more than two years. She also served as assistant pastor in Allentown, Pa., served in Fresno, Calif., for three and a half years and as minister at the Shining Mountains Church of Religious Science in Kalispell for three years. She moved to Butte in 1987 and assumed the position of senior minister at Butte Unity Center until her retirement. Maryellen was a member of the Soroptimist club, American Business Women's club, Professional Women's Club, Toastmasters and was quite honored to serve as chaplain for Highlands Hospice in Butte. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Sharon Diane Logan in 2001 and her brother, Nelson D. Bruce. Survivors include her son-in-law, Roland Dwain Logan and grandchildren, Lynette Ellen Logan, Robert Roland Logan and Bruce D Logan. Cremation has taken place in Butte and private memorial services have been conducted. Memorials in memory of Maryellen may be made to the Butte Unity Center. She was the 2nd wife of Robert Leo Bowe Her parents were Nelson Dickinson Bruce and Mildred 'Peggy' Brown
