• Notes

  A letter of administration was issued by the courts to the next of kin in the absence of a will. In the case of Cadwalader Morris this letter was issued to his wife, Elizabeth (Morgan) Morris, William Morgan and Jenkin Evans. The inventory of his estate for the letter of administration was taken on 15 December, 1727 and granted on the 23rd of that month. This is not his death date as is often sited. He would have died prior to this date for an inventory to have been taken. We know he was alive in March of 1727 as he was named executor of Morgan Morgan's will, dated March 29, 1727. So Cadwalader died some time prior to December 15, 1727. As there was no will for Cadwalader he may have died suddenly.
