- Helen R. (Stamm) Lamm, 105, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Junction, CO, where she lived with her son, Frank, for four plus years. She was the wife of the late J. Herman Lamm who died Apr. 20, 1985.
Born in Penn Twp., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude A. (Balthaser) Stamm.
She was a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leesport.
Helen has been honored since living in Colorado by the Colorado Department of Wildlife, Kroger Foods, Sportsmen’s Warehouse, Cabella’s Sporting Goods, and Ruger Firearms. The City of Fuita, Colorado, made a city proclamation, at a City Council meeting in Aug. 2016, declaring, Aug. 25th, Helen’s Birthday, to be hence forth dedicated as “Helen R. Lamm Day.” She was also featured in two consecutive years by KREX TV, in Grand Junction, CO. Furthermore, Helen has also been featured in the following newspapers; The Daily Sentinel, Grand Junction, CO, The Fuita Times, CO, The Nickel, CO, and The Reading Eagle.
She is survived by a son, Franklin C. Lamm, Grand Junction, CO; a daughter, Geraldine L. Peek, CA; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John; and six sisters, Stella, Beulah, Ida, Ella, Clara, and Annie.
Services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, Mar. 4th, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, with the Rev. Phyllis Wokenhauer officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bern Church Cemetery.
