Barry L. Essig, 73, of Catawissa, passed away April 5, 2013 in Brown Township. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Gaul) Essig.
Born in Reading, he was the son of Ruth A. (Delcamp) and the late Lynnwood S. Essig.
He was a graduate of Wilson Senior High School.
He was a member of Bern Reformed UCC, Leesport, and also a member of Grace Reformed UCC, Catawissa, where he served on the consistory. He was an avid animal lover, an outdoorsman, and was a loving, caring, compassionate, hardworking, honest man.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four daughters, Lori A. wife of Robert Fidler Jr., West Reading; Lisa M. Krisik, Virginia Beach, VA; Lynn A. Essig, Denver, CO; and Lydia L. Kachurka, Millville; two brothers, Rodney L. Essig, husband of Lila, Sinking Spring, and Ronald R. Essig, husband of Joyce, Springtown, TX; a sister, Nancy A., wife of Mark Wolfskill, Robesonia; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bern Reformed UCC, 3196 Bernville Road, Leesport, with his pastor, the Rev. Sue Fritz officiating. Friends are invited to call from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be in Bern Church Cemetery.
