- Retired Educator, Daniel B. Lamm, Dies
Services for Daniel B. Lamm, 70, a retired educator, who died at noon Friday in his Shoemakersville R.D. 1 residence, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The Rev. David H. Rapp will officiate in St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. Burial will be made in St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ Cemetery, Wernersville. The Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, has charge of arrangements.
At the time of his retirement in 1965, he was assistant supervising principal of the Hamburg Area School District.
Mr. Lamm was appointed principal of the former Perry Township High School in 1935 and following the death of Charles E. Price in August 1957, he was named acting supervising principal of the Hamburg Area Joint School System.
He later became assistant supervising principal to John W. Ebling.
Mr. Lamm was graduated from the former Keystone Normal School, now Kutztown State College, in 1921 and from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, in 1924. He received his master's degree from Columbia University in 1932.
An elder of the United Church of Christ congregation of St. Luke's Union Church, Shoemakersville, he was a charter member and the first president of the Shoemakersville Rotary Club.
A life member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers' Assn., he also was affiliated with the National Retired Teachers' Assn., Centerport Grange and the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
Born in Lower Heidelberg Township, he was a son of the late George B. and Anna E. (Whitmoyer) Lamm.
Two daughters: Dolores V., wife of the Rev. William A. Derstine, Glen Mills, Delaware County, and Dorothea E., wife of Air Force Capt. Robert H. Kreisinger Jr., Charleston Base, Maine.
Six grandchildren and a sister, Eva, wife of William Ruffner, Shillington.
Also four brothers: Charles A. of Robesonia, William A. of Sinking Spring R.D. 5, Wellington of Wernersville R.D. 1 and Amandon W. of Lebanon R.D. 1.
