- Kenneth Daniel Stamy passed from this life and into the eternal presence of his Heavenly Father on April 7, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Kenneth was born on July 10, 1932 in Whittier, CA to Daniel and Lena Stamy. He grew up on the farm and lived in the Whittier area until moving his family to Modesto, CA in 1969. He married Edna Rupp Hackman of Ephrata, PA on May 21,1955 and they greatly enjoyed their fifty-seven years together until her passing in 2012. They were blessed with three children; Elaine, Sarah and Robert.
Ken worked as an orderly at the Los Angeles General Hospital early in his career and then pursued agriculture for the rest of his working life. Farming was both his vocation and avocation and at different times and locations he grew oranges, lemons, avocados, almonds and raised chickens. There are few places he would rather be than on his John Deere tractor or later in life on his golf cart, out in the orchard.
Ken and Edna loved to travel and frequently joined some of their siblings or other good friends, as they explored some part of this country, enjoying the scenery and each others company. They particularly appreciated Hawaii and delighted in walking together on the beach.
He is survived by his children; Elaine (Jeff) Grover, Sarah (Ross) Thompson and Robert (Lori) Stamy; grandchildren Sarah and Emma Grover, Rachel (Nathaniel) Clopton, Kelly (Matt) Ferrini, Jennifer Thompson, Daniel (Nicole), Caroline and Elaine Stamy; great grandchildren Reagan and Amelia Clopton and Joanna and Lydia Ferrini; sister Mary Ann Schaurer (Ray) of Covington, OH; sister-in-laws Naomi Stamy of Quinter, KS and Cass Hackman of Ephrata, PA and many nieces, nephews and their children. The family eagerly anticipates the birth of Daniel and Nicole's first child in June.
Uncle Kenny was a favorite among the nieces and nephews and grandchildren and he seldom missed an opportunity to acknowledge their presence with a sweet treat, an encouraging word or a little good natured teasing, just to show his affection for them.
Early in his adult life Ken was called to serve his church as a minister of the Gospel and he was very effective in that role for many years. He was gifted at presenting the Truths of Mercy, Love and Grace that God has for mankind. He had great appeal to younger people and he performed marriage ceremonies for a good number of couples in the area. He was faithful in serving his Savior Jesus, until the end of his life.
Kenneth Stamy will be laid to rest at the Wood Colony Cemetery, 3511 Dakota Avenue, Modesto on Tuesday, April 13 at 2:00 in the afternoon. All are invited.
