  Danville Commercial News- January 27, 1936 Obituary: Dorsey Clinton Van Dyke A short time before he was to be released from the hospital, Dorsey Clinton Van Dyke, age 53, became suddenly ill and died within three minutes. He had been ill of a lung disorder and 10 days ago he was removed to Lake View Hospital. He made very satisfactory progress and according to his physician was to have been discharged from the hospital Monday morning. While eating breakfast he suffered a sudden attack of pulmonary embolism, or stoppage of blood circulation through the lungs and died immediately. Mr. Van Dyke had been a resident of Danville 14 years, living at 914 North Jackson Street. He was employed in the signal department of Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad. Born March 14, 1881, he was the son (out of 12 children) of J. W. and Janette Van Dyke, Greenup Township, Illinois. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Jennie Van Dyke: two sons, Earl and Loren Van Dyke; two grandsons, Dick and Jerry ; his mother Mrs. Janette Van Dyke Greenup: brothers Walter,Casey, Illinois, George Dewey Richmond, Indiana: two sisters Mrs. Goldie Crutcher, Los Angeles and Mrs. Pearl Shoe, Peach Orchard, Arkansas. The body was taken to Edmond & Dickson Funeral Home until funeral services. It then was taken to Greenup where further services will be held in Presbyterian Church. Burial is in Greenup Cemetery.
